Europeans have been drinking fruit beer for centuries. The Celts were partial to apple beer. The Belgians mastered the brewing of fruit beers a long time ago. This tradition goes back hundreds of years.
Fruit lambic is the best known variety. Lambic, the oldest beer in the world, is a spontaneously fermented beer that does not require the addition of yeast.

Nowadays there are also fruit beers on the market that are brewed on the basis of witbier, pils or Vlaams roodbruin to which fruit juices or aromas are added.
The Lindemans Framboise was introduced in 1980. To produce this fruit beer, 30% pure raspberry juice is blended with one-year-old lambic, hence the beautiful dark pink colour.
Blending the lambic and fruit juice results in a significant reduction of the alcohol content. Framboise makes for an excellent aperitif but also lends itself to culinary use, as an ingredient for sauces for example.
The other fruit beers in the Lindemans range include Kriek, Pecheresse (peach), Cassis and Apple.
The brewery also produces the Oude Kriek Cuvée René (a traditional kriek made with whole krieken cherries), the Oude Gueuze Cuvée René, Faro, Gueuze and an ‘oude gueuze’ on the basis of basil (SpontanBasil).

Lindemans Framboise is brewed with water, wild yeasts, barley malt, unmalted wheat, aged hops and raspberry juice.

A deep red pomegranate colour, with very nice pearlisation.

Lindemans Framboise is poured into an elegant degustation glass on a tall stem to ensure that the aromas are preserved and the frothy collar remains upright. In the USA this beer is usually served in the slender Lindemans flute.
Character, Tastes & Aromas
The tart raspberry aromas give this Lindemans Framboise a slight wine-like character, the lively and sharp first taste quickly goes over in a soft and tasteful palate.
This framboise is a perfect balance between the fruit's sweetness and the sharp character of the lambic.
This refreshing, light beer suits a summery salad, made with raw chicory for example.
Also a great pairing with chocolate, cheesecake, raspberries, ice cream (vanilla or other flavours ), with or as part of a sorbet.
Keeping and Storage
Lindemans Framboise will store for up to two years in the bottle. Do not exceed the recommended best-before date, there is no point keeping this one any longer than advised.

Lindemans Framboise is available in 25cl, 37.5cl & 75 cl botlles. In Belgium you will have no trouble tracking this one down through the usual channels, from specialised café's to beer shops and supermarkets.
Lindemans Framboise is also widely exported to Belgium's neighboring countries, the rest of Europe as well as the USA.
