VLEZENBEEK - The Lindemans brewery has joined forces with the De Moor distillery to develop two Lindemans Premium Distilled Gins based on Lindemans Oude Kriek. BRUSSELS - The first weekend in September is highlighted in the diaries of many beer lovers, who head to the Grand Place in Brussels to find that great public space converted into one giant bar. It is the centrepiece of the Belgian Beer Weekend, an initiative of the National Brewing Federation, the Belgian Brewers for short. This organisation now counts around 100 breweries as members, accounting between them for over 90% of the beer brewed this beer-obsessed country. This year’s Belgian Beer Weekend was the 17th. Forty-four breweries took part, serving up over 400 beers for tasting. The Grand Place in Brussels is transformed, as the people unite around their love of a good glass of beer...

OSTEND - A cosy, relaxed atmosphere and happy expressions on the faces of beer lovers from all around the world greet me. This is, above all else, what strikes me when I visit the first ever North Sea Beer Festival in Ostend held over the last weekend of August. A great finish to the summer. Plenty of enjoyment to be had in the beautiful Leopoldpark, close to the beach. Here you find a wide-ranging sample of all the beers and styles offered in Belgium. Around 150 beers were available to taste; brewn by Belgian breweries as Duvel-Moortgat (Duvel, Liefmans, De Koninck, Achouffe), Silly, Dubuisson, Omer Vander Ghinste, Castle Brewery Van Honsebrouck, De Halve Maan, St Bernardus (Kazematten), Lindemans, Strubbe, Het Anker, Huyghe, Timmermans and Bourgogne de Flandres...
